A designated camp of the Kuki armed outfit, KNO/KNA has been inaugurated along an impressive function at Chehlep village under Tengnoupal sub-division of Chandel district today.
The function began in Kuki traditional celebration with sounding of trumpet and welcoming the chief guest former MLA of Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency Onjamang Haokip.
Later on, the chief guest unveiled the inauguration stone of the designated camp, named First Battalion Kuki Army, 'Harmony Camp'.
After unveiling the inauguration stone, the chief guest inspected the guard of honour salute of the KNA cadres.

Defence secretary of KNO TS Haokip, top leaders of KNA and representatives of constituent members of KNO were also present at the occasion which was also attended by leaders of various social organisations, Churches, village chiefs and public.
KNO an umbrella organisation of the Kuki armed outfits which have signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Centre and the State Government.
The designated camp which was inaugurated today has been set up by the State Government for housing the cadres of the constituent members of KNO mainly KNA and other groups.
Presentation of cultural dances, songs, community feasting and other entertainment programmes marked the inaugural function of the designated camp.
Chehlep village, where the designated camp 'Harmony Camp' has been set up is located around 15 kms from the Sita junction of NH-53.Comprising 52 household and with a population of just 300 people, Chehlep is a peaceful village.
The designated camp is located just 1 km from the epicentre of the village.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function, Onjamang Haokip observed that Kuki armed outfits should help each other and work together to realise the goal of self-administration.
But in the efforts of achieving this goal, no disturbance should be created to other communities who are living in co-existence.
Following the signing of the tripartite SoO, Harmony Camp has been inaugurated today.
But this does not meant that political position of the Kukis has been secured, he added.
