Guwahati/Delhi, February 25 2015:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked the Manipur Government to install a special monitoring committee for the upcoming Class X and XII board examinations in the state.
The Class X and XII board exams will begin from March 2.The board is concerned about the high incidence of malpractice in Manipur after it analyzed previous records, said CBSE sources.
The monitoring committee would look after activities in the examination centres and help the board conduct the exams in a free and fair manner.

"Manipur will have a monitoring committee comprising senior principals of CBSE-affiliated schools and representatives of the State Government," said Sanjib Das, regional officer of the CBSE's Guwahati zone.
In the North East, the CBSE has roped in academicians from colleges and universities to keep vigil at the examination centers for the Class X and XII board examinations.
Keeping in mind the sensitive nature of examination centres, many located in far-flung areas, in the region, the Manipur Government said it would cooperate with the board to stop students from cheating.
"Observers, who are faculty members of colleges and universities, will carry out random checking of examination centers.
They will visit the centres unannounced.
This will bring down cheating," he said.
Apart from arrangements made by the CBSE, the State Education Departments of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will also deploy its officials as observers to monitor examination centres.
These two States don't have State boards.
In centres located in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas, officials from the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan will keep vigil as observers.
In the North East, the Class X and XII board examinations will be conducted across 312 examination centres, including those for vocational courses.
