Thoubal, February 25 2015:
Giving an ear to the appeals of Chandel Naga Peoples Organization (CNPO), other civil bodies and the assurance of Andro MLA Shyamkumar to table their grievances in the current Assembly session, the All Tribal Blind Association (ATBA) has suspended its ongoing Chandel district indefinite bandh from today.
The bandh is suspended till February 28 after a team of CNPO led by its president Ws Kanral held a talk with the members of the Association at Heikakpokpi today.
Speaking to media persons, K Pareng Kom, secretary of the Association said that the bandh has been relaxed for 3 days from today following appeals by the CNPO and other social organisations.
However, the Association will resume and intensify the stir if the grievances and demands of the Association are not tabled in the ongoing State Assembly session, he warned.
While appealing to the State Government to consider the grievances of the Association, CNPO president, Ws Kanral also told the media persons that the organisation along with the people of Chandel district will fully support and join the agitation of the Association if the State Government fails to take up their grievances during the Assembly session.
It may be mentioned that an indefinite bandh was enforced by All Tribal Blind Association in protest against the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government towards the visually impaired citizens.
