Imphal, July 21 2010:
In a continued pursuit to facilitate movement of CPMF troops from operational areas and major rail heads, the Government of India has sanctioned an air courier welfare service for the CPMF deployed in the Northern and Eastern parts of the country.
In the Northeast, the chartered flights will fly the troops five times a week between Imphal and Aizawl to Kolkata.
Assam Rifles has been designated as the nodal agency to coordinate the service in the Northeast.
The service successfully commenced on July 21 in all sectors including Imphal.
Assam Rifles Director General expressed gratitude to the Union Government for introducing this noble initiative, said an AR press release.
