After 45 hours in captivity, the two kids from Chingarel area who have been kidnapped by unidentified persons escaped from the clutches of their kidnappers.
12-year old Lairenlakpam Nganba s/o of L Ibouchou of Chingarel in Imphal East and 10-year old Ngangbam Kuber s/o Ng Rajen, also from the same locality were reportedly kidnapped by unidentified persons from a local playground in the afternoon of July 19 .
Nganba is a student of class VII in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphel and Leishamba is studying in class VI in Leishamba Maheikol.
After their escape, the physical and mental condition of the two kids have been examined at the Psychiatry Department, RIMS and Medicine Department, JNIMS.
According to family members, in addition to missing report lodged with the police, a massive search for the two kids had been carried out using loud speakers.
While the search was going on, at around 9 am, the two kids telephoned from Lamlong Bazar.
Subsequently, they were brought from there.
Recounting their ordeal to the media at RIMS campus where they have come for medical check-up, young Nganba and Kuber informed that both of them kidnapped by three persons who came into a white Maruti car.
The kidnappers were masked with handkerchiefs.
As soon as they were dragged inside the car, their mouths were gagged.
Soon after they lost consciousness.
When they regained consciousness at around 6 am today, they found themselves sleeping on a bed with no mosquito net in a room of a brick building.
Surprised at that, both of got up and came out of the room.
Seeing no one around, they fled.
As they came running, they could identify the approach road to Tiny Tots School at Dewlahlane.
From there they came to Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak and walked down upto Lamlong Bazar along Dingku Road.
At Lamlong Bazar, they telephoned family members from a PCO.
When asked whether the kidnappers were armed or not, the two kids replied that they could not recall anything as they have lost consciousness soon after dragging inside the car.
The two kids said that when they regained consciousness, they felt very hungry and exhausted.
Later during the day, the physical and mental condition of the two kids have been examined at the Psychiatry Department of RIMS and Medicine Department of JNIMS.
Though physical condition of the two kids appeared to be normal, the right leg of Nganba was seen swollen from bites of either mosquitos or fleas.
