Imphal, March 10 2009:
Sitting Outer Manipur MP, Manicharanamei will be contesting once again as the candidate of the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) in the forthcoming 15th Lok Sabha elections slated for next month.
According to a reliable source within the Alliance, the decision to field Manicharanamei as the consensus candidate of the PDA was taken after minute deliberations among its leaders and members.
Former MLA, BD Behring, former candidate in the last Lok Sabha elections, D Loli Adani and Kaijong were the other contenders for the party's nomination for the coming general election.
However, the official declaration of Manicharanamei as the PDA's official candidate for the outer Manipur seat will be made soon, the source added.
Commending the voice he raised in the Parliament for the integration of all contiguous Naga areas, several Naga civil society organisations and MLAs of the PDA have exerted their influence to secure the nomination of Manicharanamei.
The Naga Supreme body thus selected Manicharanamei as the candidate of PDA.
