Monitoring committee for NH 37

Imphal, August 02 2011:
The development of National Highway number 37 connecting the State with the rest of the country will be monitored by a committee consisting of a SE (Civil) or one nominated by Chief Engineer (Civil), PWD, one police officer not below the rank of DIG, L.S hyamkishwor, Sr Advocate, Guwahati High Court,Commander, BRTF, GREF-HQ, 765, Director Transport, Government of Manipur, Chief Engineer or his representative of NF Railways, DC, Tamenglong, Ngangom Haridas, General Secretary, Transporters & Drivers Council, Manipur.
Director Transport, Government of Manipur will be convener of the Monitoring Committee.
The Monitoring Committee was formed on the directions from Guwahati High Court yesterday in an order in respond to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed to the bench by H Kullamani and others.
Advocate H Samalata appeared on behalf of the petitioners.
The order also directed the concerned authority to make the stretch of the highway from Khongsang to Jiribam motorable before monsoon.
