TET scheduled for Aug 28

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for intending Primary and Upper Primary teachers has been scheduled on August 28 .
As per the provisions of the Right to Education Act 2009, every teacher who is to be recruited as Primary or Upper Primary teacher has to clear TET, and should be trained.
However, in view of the shortage of trained candidates in Manipur, the Govt of India has granted one time relaxation for training qualification.
However, TET is compulsory and the Board of Secondary Education Manipur would be conducting it on August 28, informed a press release issued by Education (S) Principal Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu.
Minimum qualification for appearing in TET for Primary teachers is 10+2 with 50 per cent marks and Degree with 50 per cent marks for Upper Primary teachers.
There would be 5 per cent mark relaxation for candidates belonging to OBC, ST, SC and Physically Challenged categories.
As such, candidates belonging to these categories with 45 per cent marks can apply.
Meanwhile, the last date for submission of applications for TET has been extended till August 6 .
The examination will be different for Primary teachers candidates and Upper Primary teacher candidates.
The examination for Primary teacher candidates (Paper-I) will be held in the morning and Paper-II for Upper Primary teacher candidates in the afternoon of August 28 .
The examination will be in the form of multiple choice questions and the pass marks for general category is 60 per cent, for OBC is 55 per cent and for SC/ST/PH is 50 per cent.
Pass certificates which would be issued by BSEM would be valid for seven years.
Candidates who wish to appear for Primary and Upper Primary teacher recruitment under the State Government including SSA should pass the TET.
