Ningthoucha Lancha's Manipuri non-feature film- Ilisa Amagi Mahao and Haobam Pawankumar's non-feature in English - The First Leap from Manipur are among 18 non-feature films selected for Indian Panorama 2009 to be screened in the 40th International Film Festival of India, 2009 (IFFI-2009) at Goa later in this month.
The selection of the non-feature films was made by the members of jury headed by Aribam Syam Sharma, the well known film maker of India who brought the laurel of the country in his Manipuri film- Imagi Ningthem (My son, My Precious) which bagged the Grand Prix in the Festival of Three Continents held in Nantes, France in 1982. Imagi Ningthem became the first Indian film which bagged the prestigious Grand Prix in the Nantes International Film Festival.
Other members of the non-feature films jury were Ms.Paromita Vohra, Dr.Pushpesh Pant, Sameer Hanchate and Kapilas Bhuyan.
Anirban Datta's In For Motion in English will be the opening film of Non-feature films of the Indian Panorama 2009 .
The Feature films Jury headed by Muzaffar Ali selected 26 feature films-6 Bengali films, 5 Hindi Films, three each in Kannada and Marathi, two each in Malayalam and Tamil, one each in English, English and Urdu, Rajasthani, Tulu and Konkani for Indian Panorama 2009 to be screened in the 40th International Film Festival of India in Goa.
Other member so of the feature films jury were Bobby Bedi, Joseph Pulinthanath, J.Mahendran, Gautaman Bhaskaran, Leslie Carvalho and Raja Mitra.
Konkani film Paltadacho Munis directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar will be the opening film of the feature films of Indian Panorama.
Earlier, Ningthoucha Lancha's Nongdi Tarakkhidre (But it never rained) was selected in non-feature section of the Indian Panorama 2004 and Haobam Pabankumar's Ngaihak Lambida (Along the way) in the non feature section of the Indian Panorama 2007 .
