The Ukhrul Block Management Unit of National Rural Health Mission organised a one-day awareness programme on ANTE NATAL CHECK-UP (ANC) and Focusing Group Discussion (FGD) under BCC/IEC Programme at the Community Hall of Lunghar village in Ukhrul district on Nov 1 .
Altogether 30 women at the age group of 18 38 years of the village were selected to take part in the awareness programme.
The senior health supervisor of PHC Khangkhui, Z Hormila was the main speaker of the event which was successfully marked by the presence of District Programme Manager O Puspa, Ukhrul Block Programme Manager S Wortharla, Ukhrul Block Asst Finance Consultant S Songachan, PHC Khangkhui Account Manager R Ramkahao.
Emphasising on the importance of undergoing Ante Natal Check-ups for safety delivery and early registration of all pregnancies, the Speaker cautioned that at least three ANTE NATAL Check-ups should be done to avail the benefits of JSY.
Giving advises on how the mother should look after herself and her newborn baby, the speaker said during pregnancy, certain measures such as supplementing iron and folic acid, injection of tetanus toxoid, examination of BP Anaemia, height, weight, counselling on diet and proper rest, should be taken.
Expressing gratitude to Kiranmala Thangjam (State BCC/IEC Consultant), R Sudan (IAS), SDO Ukhrul, Ngayolei and Reimichan (both ASHA members) in particular for their efforts in various capacities towards ensuring the programme a grand success, the Block Asst Finance Consultant S Songachan informed that similar programme will be held at the villages of Shangkai, Litan Sareikhong, Kachai, Homi and Halang in Ukhrul district in a month's time.
