On the advice of the Prime Minister's Office, Planning Commission "Member and former Union Cabinet Secretary BK Chaturvedi arrived at Imphal today on a three-day visit to make an assessment of the development projects being taken up in the State and also to find out ways and means of expediting development of Manipur.
Soon after landing at Imphal, BK Chatuvedi went to Loktak Lake and inspected the ongoing phuni-di clearance work.
The Planning Commission Member accompanied by Planning Commission
(North East ) Advisor SN Brohmo Choudhury was received at Tulihal Airport by State Planning Board Deputy Chairman MLA Bijoy Koijam, Chief Secretary DS Poonia and other State Government officials.
Speaking to media persons at the airport, BK Chaturvedi said that the main agenda of his visit is to take stock of the development projects being implemented in the State and to consult with the State Government about what can be done for speedy development of the State.
The tour is also aimed at finding out ways and areas where the Centre can extend assistance to the State Gov-erriment, he said.
From Imphal, the Plan-, ning Commission team went to Bishnupur district and visited Bishnupur district hospital and INA Museum before inspecting the phumdi clearance work at Loktak Lake.
The team would visit Moreh by helicopter tomorrow.
There they Ayould make a spot assessment of the Integrated Check Post, Trade Centre and Moreh Hospital.
From Moreh, they would be flown to Thoubal Project site.
In the afternoon, the Planning Commission team would attend National Re-dedication function at 1st MR compound.
This would be followed by a joint meeting with administrative secretaries and heads of departments in the conference hall of Old Secretariat.
The meeting would make a review of the development works being taken up in the State.
On November 1, the team would visit Capital Project, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Kangla Fort and JNIMS.
They would also attend Kut celebration.
