United Nations' Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) is most likely to take up a case regarding the missing of UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima whose whereabouts still remain uncertain since he was reportedly arrested in Bangladesh.
A response to the complaint lodged by the wife of Meghen, RK Ibenungshi has been received from the WGEID.
The intimation received from the Working Group says a formal has been sent should which be filled by the family with regard to the missing of RK Meghen.
It is learnt that Ibenungshi has furnished all requisite information, the WGEID seeks in the format and has been returned to the WGEID on October 27 .
Mention may be made that after the report of the arrest of Meghen by a combined team of Raw and its Bangladesh counterpart on October 29, Meghen's wife Ibenungshi and his family pleaded in writing to the Union Home secretary, chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and the state DGP to let the family know of his whereabouts.
They also requested the United Nation's Commission for Human Rights and WGEID drawing the attention of the international bodies to confirm the whereabouts of Meghen.
Unable to get a positive response from any of the authorities, Ibenungshi also filed a habeas corpus petition to the Gauhati High Court with the prayer for directing authorities concerned to produce her husband in the court.
