The director of the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services has been kidnapped by cadres of an underground group from nearby his residence at Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal in Imphal west along with his driver.
The director, Th Jeevan Singh was kidnapped by cadres of the Kuki Liberation Army (Military Council) on last Monday, said a police case registered after the commissioner of the veterinary and animal husbandry, IS Laishram lodged a written report with the Imphal police station on the next day of kidnapping incident.
However, so far none of the underground group owned up the responsibility of taking custody to the director.
Police registered a case and investigation to trace out his whereabouts, a police officer said.
They suspected the director being taken into custody in connection with extortion demand of Rs 1.3 crore.
