State women commission head meets Patil

Imphal, March 10 2011:
Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women, I Ibetombi met visiting President, Pratibha Patil at Raj Bhavan and requested for her help in uplifting the status of women in the state by strengthening the commission of which she is the head.
She met the President at 6.40 pm and held talks on various issues for about 10 minutes.
Ibetombi said that she appraised the President on the need for improving the socio-economic condition of the women of the state.
Ibetombi stated that she had expressed willingness to the President for the need to expand the activities of the Women's Commission by setting up a rehabilitation centre and a women's shelter.
Ibetombi said the President did not give any commitment or assurance but she hoped that the President will do something in response to her appraisal.
The President also met Rose Mangshi, President, Kuki Mothers' Association separately.
