As per a resolution of its central cabinet meeting held on November 16, the Kuki Inpi Manipur has decided not to raise any objection against village authority elections as long the election are held under rules of the Village Authority Act 1956.As such, villages willing to conduct election under the Act may go ahead only for a single term , said a KIM in a press release issued by its Information and Publicity secretary P Lupheng.
It also mentioned the necessity to modify the Village Authority Act 1956 to suit the customary/traditional Haosa system of Kuki village administration.
It further informed that elections for new term of office for the posts of president, vice-president and general secretary of KIM district branches for the term 2007-09 shall be simultaneously conducted on November 30 at respective branch offices.
