Teach 'cowboy Govt' a lesson: RB

Imphal, December 17, 2011:
Reminding that one Minister of the SPF Government shot Advocate General of the State while a son of another Minister shot dead an innocent youth, NCP State unit president Radhabinod Koijam has given the SPF Government a sobriquet of 'cowboy Government’.
He appealed to all the people to strengthen NCP so that the cowboy Government, which has been trampling upon the rights of people by rendering all laws toothless and meaningless, can be taught a befitting lesson in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Radhabinod was speaking at a political conference held at Citizens Club ground at Soibam Leikai today.
It was also attended by Union MoS for Rural Development Agatha Sangma, MLAs Th Nandakishore, Salam Joy and ex-Minister Laishom Ibomcha.
Radhabinod stated that while other States have reached the level of e-governance, Ministers and their sons have been shooting and killing people in Manipur rather than working towards establishment of secure and peaceful atmosphere in the society.
To teach a befitting lesson to the SPF Govt which has failed miserably in safeguarding people’s lives and properties there should be a common decision of the public, he asserted.
However, in case the people commit the folly of bartering their voting rights with money, the SPF Government would take a new form, more dreadful than the 'cowboy’.
The multiple issues besieging the State can be resolved only when there is a Government elected by the people with consensus.
Claiming that NCP would take a major role in forming a popular Government, Radhabinod sought unstinted cooperation of the public.
Agatha Sangma stated that NCP, despite being a new political party, has thorough grasp of the problems and issues concerning the North East region.
Asserting that NCP would shoulder the responsibility of resolving the outstanding issues through justified means acceptable to international laws, Agatha underscored the need to strengthen NCP.
Taking strong exception to the continuous imposition of AFSPA and the deafening silence maintained by the Government when people were suffering untold misery due to protracted highway blockades, she alleged that the SPF Government has been functioning like a dictator.
