Fire safety measures

Imphal, December 17, 2011:
In the aftermath of the inferno at AMRI Hospital, Kolkata which claimed more than 90 lives, the State Relief and Disaster Management Department has asked all District Magistrates to review fire safety measures taken up at public places.
Principal Secretary (Relief and Disaster Management) Dr Suhel Akhtar said that an order was issued on December 15 which directed District Magistrates to check whether or not fire safety measures are followed in public places like markets, hospitals, schools etc.
The task of checking fire safety measures would be joined by officials of PWD, Fire Service Department and PHED.
