An exhibition on Human Origin, Genome and the People of India was inaugurated today by Governor SS Sidhu as chief guest at the golden jubilee hall, DM College of Sciences.
The exhibition is organised under the aegis of Anthropological Survey of India Kolkata.
The inaugural function was also attended by retired Director of Higher Education Dr L Rajendra and Commissioner Science and Technology Janab MA Sattar as guest of honour and president respectively.
The introductory speech was given by Director of the Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata Dr VR Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sidhu stressed on the importance of undertaking genetic research so as to ascertain one's origin.
Conveying gratitude for organising such an exhibition in which genomes of the people of India and human origins are being exhibited, Sidhu asserted that people should have scientific aptitude to reap the benefits of science.
