A one-day training programme on Dried Blood Sport Collection (DBS) and DNA PCR Testing for infants of positive mother at community level was held at the conference hall of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) here today.
Representatives of Medical officer, lab technicians and nurses from six community care centres of Manipur and MLSS participated in the training programme conducted under MACS.
Deputy Director (ART, PPTCT and VCCTC) of MACS Dr Premchand, Regional Manager of Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative Sana Meitram, Programme Officer of Clinton Foundation Imo, Dr Brajachand of RIMS and NGO Advisor of MACS Premjit attended the inaugural session and share their experiences on DBS and DNA PCR testing for infants (0-18 months) at community level.
The main objective of the training programme was DBS diagnosis of HIV in infants (0-18 months) by DNA PCR testing, DBS sample collection and handling and DBS sample storage and transport.
The training would help the community to identity infant who are born by positive mothers.
During the programme, Dr Brajachand made presentation on topics like DBS sample collection and handling, DBS sample storage and transport and DBS diagnosis of HIV in infants.
