Villagers of Thingkangphai Meitei Leikai today vandalised the house of Gambhir Singh, the man behind the alleged case of serial molestation with a warning that their entire belongings would be burnt to ashes if the family fails to leave the village within
two days.
Following the reports on the conduct of Gambhir in some local paper and The Sangai Express villagers of Thingkangphai under the aegis of Thingkangphai Meitei Youth Club and Meira Paibis today ransacked the accused's residence at around 10 am.
Villagers involved in the vandalism said the entire family would be wiped off forcefully from the village if they fail to relocate themselves within two days.
Family members of Ganbhir however were against the move and called for police intervention.
Moments after the villagers' raid the house of Ganbhir; his younger brother called on the police and arrived on the scene but by the time they arrived, the villagers had already ransacked the residence and vandalized most of their belongings.
As both the parties refuses to sign on the documents of complaint prepared by the police.
Officer-in-charge of Lamka Police Station Shridam Singh told The Sangai Express that a separate case will be registered in each of the cases.
'We will register a separate case on the alleged conduct of Ganbhir and on vandalizing his residence,' the OC said.
At the time of filing this report the local police were yet to register any case on any of the incidents reported from Thingkangphai.
