All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) has distributed rice among the people of flood affected area today.
At Lilong Arapti Awang Leikai and Kiyamgei Oinam Loukol, 12 bags of rice were distributed while at Kongba Arong and Bashikhong Meira Club, 10 bags were provided.
Other places where rice have been distributed are KC Kongpal (2 bags), New Checkon (5 bags), Hatta Golapati (5 bags), Lairenkabi ( 5 bags), Iroisemba (5 bags), Eastern Youth Construction Association, Porompat ( 2 bags) and Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar ( 1 bag).
Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of distributing the rice, AMUCO president KT Rehman asserted that the people have been facing the problems of flood every year from breached of river embankments, as the Govt and its related Dept have failed to strengthen or maintain these embankments properly.
If the Govt had taken up all its construction works with vision, then the people would not have suffered from any natural calamity, he said.
He also pointed out that with election round the corner, some people have been taking advantage of the flood by way of providing relief materials to the people with an eye on the election.
