Imphal, February 26 2009:
Atleast two persons have been killed in two different road related accidents yesterday afternoon.
In the first incident which occurred near the gate of Liberal College under Heingang Police Station of Imphal East district at around 3 pm, 56-year old Mangsatabam Budha of Luwangshangbam Awang Leikai was killed after being knocked down by a Tata truck while coming on a Marvel Scooter.
He was rushed to RIMS Hospital for treatment in a serious condition but succumbed to the injuries at around 5 pm.
The body of the victim has been handed over to his family members today after post-mortem examination.
In the second incident, the driver of a water tanker was killed when the truck fell into a gorge 200 feet deep along the Churachandpur-Tipaimukh Road at around 2 pm yesterday.
The spot of the accident is located at a distance of about 97 kms from Lamka town of Churachandpur district.
The deceased driver has been identified as Chiraramal Meena (29) of Mohonpura, Joypur.
He was a driver of the BRTF which is an agency constructing the road.
Embalming of the body has been done after post-mortem at Churachandpur District Hospital.
