Stepping up the ongoing anti-drug and liquor campaign, Committee off Anti-Drug and Alcoholism (CADA) and Chanura Apunba Lup have consigned to flame a large quantity of illicit liquor and materials used for brewing liquors seized from different places during the drive launched over the last two days.
Volunteers of Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation and United People's Administrative Council, which are units of CADA reportedly seized 45 litres of illicit liquors and other materials and vessels used for brewing liquor from five different persons during a drive launched at Kakching and Keirak area yesterday and the same were consigned to flame at Wabagai-Lamkhai Bazar this afternoon.
While vessels seized have been donated to homes of destitute women and children.
The identities of the five persons from whom the liquors and thematerials used for brewing country liquor have been seized are Moirangthem Naba (32) of Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng Maning, Mayenglambam Rajen (32), also from the same locality, Mayenglambam Achou (45) of Kakching Mayai Leikai, Thokchom Tikendrajit (30) and Haokhom Noyon (52) of Keirak KeishamLeikai.
Meanwhile, contributing their mite in the ongoing campaign against drug and alcoholism, volunteers of Chanura Apunba Lup in association with Southern Rural Development Organisation-Unit and Rural Environment Welfare Organisation have also destroyed illicit liquors seized from 10 different persons during drive launched in the last 48 hours.
The seized illicit liquors was set on fire near the Junior High School at Nongmaithem Thongkhong today afternoon.
Seized earthen pots used in brewing country liquors were also destroyed at the occasion.
The persons from whom the illicit liquor and earthen pots have been seized are identified as Heisnam Tomal, Tera Leishabi, Salarri Ongbi Matamlei Devi, Haobijam Nanao, Salam Apabi Devi, Leishangthem Indramani Devi and Ninthoujam Singarei Devi.
