Kohima, May 20:
Continuous downpour in the next few days would have serious impact to people of both Kohima and Manipur.
The landslide prone Naga Hospital area in the outskirts of the Nagaland capital along the NH-39 leading to Manipur, is worsening by the day due to incessant rainfall.
It is several years now that the highway portion in Hospital area has been troubling transporters.
Maximum effort has been extended by the BRTF these few days but continuous shower has been playing spoil-sports.
The only hope now seems to be the diversion route of Leke through Forest Colony Bypass road for the upcoming vehicles to resume their journey on NH-39.In the event of total failure of the said section, transporters have to take the alternative route while the upcoming vehicle will take the Tabor Retreat House connecting through By-Pass check gate which joins Leke road.
But the Leke road too is facing mudslide at few points which if not cleared is threatening to block the traffic as well.
Hundreds of Manipur bound heavy vehicles are stranded in the Naga Hospital area just four days ago due to the loose mud slide in the area.
Even today, labourers were seen clearing the mud slides from the upper side of the road.
It is imperative the whole chunk of the area including the road-side embankment/mud guard may sink if rains continue further.
