Imphal, May 20:
The manipur people's Party (MPP) exuding confidence of defeating candidates fielded by the ruling partners Congress and CPI in the forthcoming by-elections for Khangabok and Khundrakpam Assembly Constituencies visualised formation of a new non-Congress Government in the State.
addressing a meeting organised by MPP Khundrakpam Kendra Committee at Pukhao Iranpham market complex in Imphal East district this afternoon, working president of the regional political organisation Dr Nimaichand Luwang affirmed that defeat of ruling party nominees in the by-polls is inevitable in the face of political strategy jointly worked out by the opposition conglomerate.
Iterating on formation of a non-Congress Government in the State after the polling process is completed, the former MLA exhorted Khundrakpam AC electorates to share the responsibility of emancipating people of Manipur from misrule of the SPF coalition.
Asserting that Congress party is fielding Th Lokeshore with the intention to emotionally black-mail Khundrakpam electorates, Dr Nimaichand questioned antecedents of Lokeshore while insisting that he (Lokeshore) is not the biological son of late MLA Thokchom Navakumar.
Lokeshore belongs to oinam clan and had possessed/doctored documents to claim Navakumar as his father, the MPP leader stated while prevailing upon the people of Khundrakpam AC to be on the alert to foil such mischievous scheme.
Confiding that the opposition groups had initially resolved to patronage any family members of Navakumar by allotting NCP ticket, Dr Nimaichand described Lokeshore's preference to the Congress bandwagon merely for the sake and to lust for money power.
Showering accolades upon MPP nominee in the AC Namoijam Singhajit, he said the MPP choice was boirn and had grown up in the native soil and his commitment to welfare of the people is unquestionable.
Joining the poll campaign, former Union Minister of State Th Chaoba confessed the MPP would leave no stone unturned to ensure debacle of the Congress or CPI candidate.
He also contended that in case the Congress manages to wrest Khangabok and Khundrakpam ACs that would ensure absolute majority on its on, booting out the CPI from the SPF Council of Ministers is imminent.
While asking the people to introspect what development programme has the SPF Government initiated in Khundrakpam AC, Chaoba also guaranteed a ministerial portfolio for Singhajit in case the opposition groups come to power in the State.
Former MLA L lala of the BJP, Samata Party's H Bimola Devi, CPI nominee L Premchand and NCP's K Tomba are the other candidates in Khundrakpam whose faiths would be decided by the electorates in the June 2 hustings.
