In a troubled torn society like Manipur characterised by mental depression, stressful atmosphere and degraded morality, the Art of Living Foundation has come up with an effective tool� Sudarshan Kriya, to fight off the mental ailments.
With violence becoming the order of the day and rationale of harmonious existence thrown into the wind, majority of people in the society are suffering from stress and severe mental depression.
It is at this juncture that the relevancy of the words� Breathe out stress, tension, depression; breathe in joy, peaceful health, as preached by the founder of the Art of Living Foundation and spiritual leader Shri Ravi Shankar assumes greater importance.
To enable the people cope up with the ever deteriorating mental health of the society, volunteers of the Art of Living Foundation, Manipur centre including seven teachers have been demonstrating methods to pacify the disturbed mind of the people.
Sudarshan Kriya, a totally unique, specially designed breathing technique is one of the techniques being demonstrated by the volunteers to help people fight off stress and depression.
Other activities being prescribed by the Foundation include yogasana, meditation, games and many more including various non-academic skills aimed at enhancing self-confidence.
Various courses conducted by the Foundation include Art Excel for children in the age group of 8-14 years, Yes Course for youths belonging to 14-18 years age group and Yes Plus Course for college students and Part I Course for general people.
"We believe in practising Sudarshan Kriya through which we can free our mind from stress and tension and imbibe greater creativity and clarity of mind, improved health and vitality and self-confidence etc," stated Rishnikumar Sharma, a faculty member of the Foundation.
He said that the Foundation had conducted courses for different kinds of people including celebrities, corporate members, military personnel, village people and the recent one held at Sajiwa Jail for the prisoners.
The benefits of these courses cannot be conveyed by words.
One can feel and enjoy its benefits and positive results only through experience, it's purely an experiential course, remarked Rishnikumar.
Sudarshan Kriya is found to be quite effective in combating mental problems, and this is proved by the positive feed backs received from different parts of the world including Manipur.
It has also been proved by scientific studies that through Sudarshan Kriya one can experience flow of positive emotions, replacing anger, frustration etc.
Even certain mental ailments can also be cured by practising this special technique of breathing.
The Art of Living Foundation is organising a five day Part I course at State Guest House, Sanjenthong from May 22, informed Rishnikumar while inviting all interested persons to join the course.
