Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa in his third visit to Ukhrul after holding office for 55 days as Education Minister laid the foundation stone of the new building of Ukhrul Hr Sec School (UHSS) which is estimated to cost Rs 2.5 crores A sum of Rs 50 lacs each for Ukhrul Hr Sec school, Tolloi Hr Sec school, Chandel and Senapati districts has been released from the Central Assistant Agency (ACA) on a one-time grant basis.
Speaking at the sports week of Ukhrul Hr Sec School, the Minister urged Govt employees posted at Ukhrul to attend to their duties regularly and warned that dereliction of duty will not be tolerated.
The Minister also inspected the Tolloi Hr Sec School building construction where he expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the work and directed the DC to expedite the work.
Ngajokpa further said that setting-up a branch of the j State Bank of India (SBI) in Ukhrul is a must since Ukhrul I is one of the oldest district HQs in the State.
Drawing a comparison with Senapati district which has j six SBI branches, the Education Minister said until and unless there is a SBI branch in Ukhrul headquarters, implementation of Central Schemes like PMRY and DRDA Schemes will remain a main hurdle and directed the DC Ukhrul and DIG Assam Riffles to forward the file process to the Central Govt.The Minister further said that the water supply system in Ukhrul should be augmented and urged the NGOs , DLOs , social workers to Extend their co-operation.
On the lack of teaching faculties in Ukhrul Hr Sec School, the Edn Minister assured the students that two Science teachers will be posted immediately along with one UDC and an LDC.
He also added that instead of Mid-day Meal in schools, cooked meals for all the Primary Schools would be distributed with effect from Nov 14.
