The President of India, Smt Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the occasion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba which shall be celebrated tomorrow has said, �On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, I send my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens.
May these festivals bring peace, happiness and prosperity to all our people and promote oneness and harmony in society�.
Meanwhile, Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manpur on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba � New Year's Day in Manipur.
In a message, the Governor said that while entering into the new year, we have to dedicate ourselves to gather renewed strength and confidence in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and peaceful co-existence amongst all sections of people irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion.
In anoher message, the Chief Minister of Manipur, O Ibobi state that "Cheiraoba is the New Year festival of Manipur.
On this day, youngsters seek blessings from elders".
"On this auspicious occasion, let us re-dedicate ourselves to the gigantic task of nation building and resove to work together for the unity and prosperity of the state," the Chief Minister's message said.
Political parties and many other civil society organisations have also extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Cheiraoba.
Among them are MPP, MPP Minority Cell, CPI, MPCC, Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup, CADA, AMADA, Salai Punsi-pham, Kangleipak Ngalhanba Apunba Lup, UCM, DESAM, HERICOUN and so on.
