Imphal, February 14, 2010:
"Those Kuki militant outfits based in Manipur, which have entered into Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Governments of India and Manipur are selling blood of the Kuki people.
It is a ploy of a few people for selfish gains.
The United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) strongly condemns it".
This was stated by Abu Nidal, General Secretary of the not much heard of armed outfit christened as the United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) at a press meet held at an undisclosed place in Churachandpur district on Friday last.
Chief of Army Staff of UTLA, Nengsong and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Public Relations, Anaconda were also present at the press meet.
General Secretary Abu Nidal told the mediapersons that the objective of the UTLA is an integrated zonal setup, comprising the hill states of Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh as one independent country.
He said, the partition of the North East in 1947 and its subsequent establishment of different states was entirely illegal, regardless of the passage of time, because it was done contrary to the will of the North East tribal people and to their natural right in their homeland, and also inconsistent with the princal embodied in the United Nations, particularly the right to self determination.
Abu Nidal said, the UTLA is the leading mass revolutionary organisation struggling for the re-unification of the whole of North Eastern region under one complete and free independent country.
"It is an organisation committed to fullfil the basic demands of the people.
Its immediate task is to carry out the mission for self determination of the whole region, asserting the demand for complete birth right for a unified entity of all the North Eastern states.
It has been the crux of its movement and fulfilment of this demand is the only solution that can safeguard the interest and satisfy the legitimate aspiration of the hill people by mobilising the broad section of the people," Abu Nidal said.
He further said that the organisation shall always maintain deep relations with the people, uphold the principal of criticism and self criticism which shall be the cardinal principal of its organisational functioning.
The party will resolutely oppose all sorts of anti-people and reactionary trends within the organisation and shall always be ready to sacrifice all for the revolutionary struggle and for the organisation.
He said, the North East is often referred to as a rich land where poor people live.
Its peculiar geography has virtually left the region with an in inescapable common destiny.
In any case, the North East, notwithstanding its disintegration into secret political units, has a common destiny to fight and share, a common cause to pursue and common problems to overcome, i.e.self-determination, the General Secretary said.
The UTLA rejects all solutions which are substitutes for the total liberation of the North East, he asserted.
About the formation of UTLA, Abu Nidal narrated that the organisation was established on August 5, 2003.It has its Head Quarter in Manipur and Tactical Head Quarter in Assam.
The organisation does the really appreciate the efforts and labour of the Indian security forces toward the tribal of the NE but hates the divide and rule policy of the Indian political leaders since 1947, he said.
The General Secretary said, they fear no devil because they are fighting for their brith right.
"When the Indian freedom fighter like Lal-Bal-Pal say "Swaraj is our brith right and we shall have it," they are described as heroes and patriots.
But when we say the same, how we can be termed as terrorists, criminals or outlaws?" he asked.
