With a grand vision to provide free education from class III to XII, the SPF Government has entrusted the Department of Education (Schools) to conduct a survey.
A decision to this effect was adopted during a meeting on plan expenditure for the current fiscal year with the Chief Minister in the chair.
The meeting was also attended by different Ministers, Commissioners, Secretaries and Directors.
To promote healthy competition among private and Government Schools, the Department of Education (S) has been asked to submit a report on schools with academic performance.
The Chief Minister also instructed the heads of Departments to submit reports on the interest accrued from huge amounts of money deposited in different agencies for taking up various projects.
In case of any increment in project cost due to failure of work agencies to complete projects in time, the increment should be adjusted against the interest accrued from the money deposited with them for the projects, Ibobi stated.
Moreover, the Works Department and the Tourism Department were also asked to submit a report on the necessary process and other requirements for privatisation of Hotel Imphal.
Informing that the North East Council has agreed to fund the remaining amount in addition to Rs 10 crore share of the State for construction of an inter-State bus terminus at Khuman Lampak, the Chief Minister asked the Works Department and the Transport Department to prepare a detailed project report.
The estimated cost of the proposed bus terminus is Rs 35 crores.
Other than engineering Departments, rate of plan expenditure for most of the Departments have been improving during the current financial year, Ibobi noted.
Nevertheless, he instructed the heads of Departments to further improve utilisation of plan amount.
For the next fiscal of 2008-09, the State plan size will be finalised during a meeting between Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chairman of Union Planning Commission scheduled for January 21.During the meeting today, the Chief Minister also directed officials concerned to take up construction of FCS godowns in Churachandpur and Tamenglong, tourist lodge near Sadu Chiru waterfall and upgradation of IT Park at Mantripukhri.
Of the total amount of Rs 10,173 lakhs allotted to Power Department during the current fiscal year, Rs 4022.31 lakhs has been utilised.
For IFCD the figure stands at Rs 10728.64 lakhs against Rs 24904 lakhs allotted, Works Department at Rs 357 lakhs against Rs 10215 lakhs allotted and Rs 4228 lakhs has been utilised against Rs 5250 lakhs allotted for roads and bridges.
The PHED has utilised Rs 5442.48 lakhs against Rs 10849 lakhs allotted.
In aggregate, 34.58 pc out of the total plan amount of Rs 137431 lakhs has been expended so far, said sources.
