Imphal, March 22 2009:
The enquiry committee instituted to investigate into the brutal murder of Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan, Mondal Yumnam Token and Driver Aribam Rajen after they were abducted by NSCN (IM) cadres has submitted its report to the Government.
The enquiry committee comprised of Agriculture Commissioner O Nabakishore and IG (Intelligence) LM Khoute.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that the enquiry report was submitted to Additional Chief Secretary DS Poonia on March 18. However, the State Government has not divulged anything about the enquiry report as yet and is being kept confidential.
The enquiry was conducted as per an order issued by the Home Department.
The enquiry report may be made public after the State Cabinet made a detail discussion.
The report submitted by the enquiry committee is being examined, confided the source.
In the course of the enquiry, statements of many witnesses including the three employees abducted together with Dr Kishan and his staff but 'rescued'by a combined team of police and Assam Rifles from Tolloi, Ukhrul district were recorded.
Statements of the suspended Ukhrul DC Pankaj Kumar Pal and the SP were also recorded.
According to the disclosure made by family members of Dr Kishan to this newspaper a few days back, the then Ukhrul DC asked SDO Kishan to enlist more names in the electoral rolls and to issue additional job cards.
There was a difference of opinion between the then DC and the SDO on these matters.
Notably, NSCN (IM)’s Lt Hopson Ningshen, the mastermind of the gruesome muder and two others are currently in the custody of NSCN (IM).
On the other hand, four individuals including the driver who drove the vehicle used in the abduction of Dr Kishan and his staff and owners of the houses where Dr Kishan and his staff were kept by the abductors have been pulled up and kept in the judicial custody of police.
Meanwhile, the State Assembly has resolved to urge upon New Delhi to affect hand over of the culprits to the State law enforcing agency after Chief Minister O Ibobi has written to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister towards this end.
