In commemoration of the first death anniversary of late Dr Thingnam Kishan, the Centre for Alternative Discourse Manipur (CADM) has dedicated a special issue of Alternative Perspectives to Dr Kishan.
The dedicated issue was released during a simple commemorative function held at the office of CADM at Imphal today.
Observing the first death anniversary function of Dr Kishan, CADM members and editorial staff of Alternative Perspectives offered floral tribute and paid homage to Dr Kishan by observing one minute’s silence.
Late Dr Thingnam Kishan was the founder editor of the quarterly journal Alternative Perspectives.
He took great pain and responsibility in steering the journal during its formative stage, said a press release issued by the CADM.
The theme of the special issue dedicated to Dr Kishan is “Colonialism and Resistance: Literature, Popular Culture and Religion”.
Another main highlight of the death anniversary observance was revisiting the ideas and contributions of late Dr Kishan in the realm of academic research and knowledge.
The CADM also acknowledged Dr Kishan’s dynamic leadership, progressive scholarship, social activism and concern for underprivileged sections.

The special issue of Alternative Persectives dedicated to Dr Kishan contains excerpts from his four essays published in the earlier issues of the quarterly journal in addition to four articles written by different scholars and academicians.
The four articles contained in this special issue are Religious Movement and Colonial Rule : Origin of the Sanamahi Movement by Khuraijam Bijoykumar; Politics, Society and Literature in Modern Manipur by Arambam Noni; Desire, Disgrace and Colonialism : A Reading of Bor Sahib Ongbi Sanatombi by RK Smejita Hidam and Jesters of Popular Genres as an Agent of Resistance through Reflexivity by Ksh Imokanta.
