Villagers of 33 hamlets in New Keithelmanbi area are not getting facilities from any kinds of welfare schemes implemented in the state by the government according to survey conducted by the New Keithelmanbi Board Development Committee (NKBBDC) recently.
The six day long survey conducted by the members of the NKBBDC from February 12 at 33 hamlets in New Keithelmanbi area concluded today with a function held at the office of the NKBBDC.
Chief of Namching Mahakabui village Alemba Puimai, NKBBDC, H Manglemba and member of the ward of Moidangpok Gram Panchayat graced the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour in the function.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Alemba observed that villagers of the 33 hamlets in the area are facing problems of unavailability of safe drinking water.
They are not getting food items low cost under PDS.
They have been depriving of getting benefits of APL, BPL, AAY etc.
Besides, total sanitation programme which have been implementing in other places of the state are not reaching the villages.
As a result if this, villagers are confronting with various communicable diseases.
As per the finding of the survey, by and large the common problems facing by the villagers is that of drinking water availability, he observed drawing the attention of the authority concern for taking up schemes for supplying safe drinking water.
General secretary of NKBBDC speaking on the occasion said that as per the report of the survey, around 15,000 villagers settling at 33 hamlets in New Keithelmanbi area are facing the problem of availability of drinking water.
He further said that 21 self help groups are functioning in the area.
The area has 80 persons APL card holders, 70 BPL card holders, eight AAY card holders.
Fifty-five villagers work as state and central government servants.
The villages have a total of 372 persons who passed Class-X, he said observing the finding of the survey.
