For the first time in the State, IT Talent Search, 2007, a unique event for creating computer awareness and making every individuals selfreliant, independent and generate job opportunities was hosted by Linux Manipur at Don Bosco Imphal today.
Apart from organising a written quiz competition, talks, spot quiz, seminars and visual shows on Linux were conducted and free Linux software were also present to the participants.
Around 500 students ranging from class VIII to BE, MCA and MSc, etc from various districts of Manipur participated in the competition held in three categories.
In the Junior category, Senjam Ranjan of Langol Housing Complex, Chingkhomba Ch of Haobam Marak and Th Wangam of Uripok Samushang Uku respectively won first, second and the third position.
In the Senior category, the Ist position was won by G Maheshwor of Sagolband Salam Leikai, the second position by Albert Sagolsem of Palace Compound and the third by Priyobrata Hamom of Kangla Sangomsang.
In the Open Category, Th Sonia of Khurai Kongpal Thongam Leikai won the first position, Ng Rocky of Mongsangei Konjeng Leikai won the second position and Roger Ahongsangbam of Thongju Peechu Lampak won the third position.
Prizes were distributed to the winners and Linux free software CDs and T-shirts to all the participants.
Linus Manipur is a group of Linux enthusiasts who are residing in and outside Manipur and dedicating themselves to task of making Manipur the IT hub of the North East.
In a statement, on behalf of Linux Manipur Ringo Pebam has expressed gratitude to the volunteers and sponsors like ITCTC; Don Bosco, Imphal; Xtreme Wave; e-pao, Computer Gallery, Koubru, Aircel, MACS, etc for making the event a grand success.
