In continuation of the Asian Football Confederation's concept to tap and groom talented players a district level grassroots school football league competition would be begin at Ukhrul district headquarters from May 9 onwards.
The competition is a brainchild of the AFC to hone talents of players from a tender age which the All Manipur Football Association under the aegis of AIFF had been sustaining at different districts/parts of the State for the last few years.
Consequently, the school league competition for under-11 years old players in Ukhrul district is being organised in which eight schools have confirmed participation.
A women's exhibition match would precede formal inauguration of the grassroots school tournament that will witness Cambridge School, Little Angels English School, Alice Christian Higher Secondary School, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Kariphung Govt High School, Blossom Tutorial Academy, Springfield School and Galaxy Christian School vie for the top honour.
