The Manipur People Party today has decided to conduct an enquiry into the alleged collusion of the party MLA, Th Shyamkumar with the Congress in widespread proxy voting which the party has been charging to the Congress during the recently held polling to the Inner Parliamentary constituency.
A meeting of the Core Committee of the party held today has decided to conduct an enquiry to the charge level against the party MLA after a thorough discussion on the matter of non-submission of reply to the show cause notice issue on him even after the expiry of the deadline to submit the same.
Mention may be made that, MPP served show cause notice to the legislature elected from Andro Assembly segment under MPP ticket on April 29 to give his explanation to the move taken up by the party to suspend him from the primary membership of the party alleging that he colluded with the Congress in the widespread proxy voting during the parliamentary election held on April 22.The same had expired already.
In an interaction with the party president, Dr L Chandramani, he said as a president he can put a primary member of the party under suspension but could not turn out a member from the party.
So, the matter was discussed at the meeting of the Core Committee, the highest decision making body of the party today and decided to make an enquiry into the charge level against MLA Th Shyamkumar.
As per the decision, the disciplinary committee of the party will conduct the enquiry against the suspended MLA and further action against him will be taken up as per the finding report of the party which would be put up to the Central Committee of the MPP with a recommendation.
Another show cause notice will be sent to the MLA Shyamkumar containing the finding and recommendation giving him a chance to submit his reply to the party again.
In reply to a query, the president said that Shyamkumar has been suspended from the party for his anti-party activities while the burning of effigies of the party leader was done by some section of the people of Andro Kendra who formed a JAC.
There is nothing to say in this regard, he said.
As the party suspended Shyamkumar only from the party primary membership, he is still MLA of the party, he said.
