A joint meeting of MPP working committee and core committee held today has entrusted the party's disciplinary action committee to initiate further course of action against MLA Th Shyamkumar.
The MLA from Andro Assembly constituency was already suspended from the primary membership of MPP.
Accusing Shyamkumar of working against the party and acting on the recommendation of MPP Legislature wing leader O Joy, party president Dr L Chandramani suspended Shyamkumar from the primary membership of MPP on April 29.Moreover, effigy of Shyamkumar was set ablaze in front of MPP office on the day.
The meeting held today in connection with suspension of MLA Shyamkumar with party president Dr L Chandramani in the chair decided to hand over the matter to the party's disciplinary action committee for initiating further action against Shyamkumar.
Interestingly, the seven member disciplinary action committee is comprised of party president Dr L Chandramani, Legislature wing leader O Joy, MLAs Dr Ng Bijoy, Dr I Ibohalbi, RK Anand, former Union Minister Th Chaoba and former Minister P Achou.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Dr Chandramani said that Shyamkumar not being a simple member but an elected representative member of the party, a show-cause notice would be sent soon.
Once the reply is received, an enquiry would be conducted to see if it is justified or not.
In case, Shyamkumar's reply is justified, the suspension order may be revoked.
However, if his reply is found lacking justification, Shyamkumar may be expelled from the party, Dr Chandramani said.
In case, MLA Shyamkumar is expelled from MPP, he would be sitting in the Manipur Legislative Assembly as an unattached member.
Referring to the threat of the JAC Against Defamation of the Peoples of Andro A/C that MPP and CPI would be boycotted in Andro A/C in case they refuse to tender apologies by May 16, Dr Chandramani dismissed the threat saying that it did not merit consideration as none of the members of the JAC were MPP members.
The Andro A/C MLA was accused of plotting with the Congress party in connection with the alleged mass rigging in some polling stations during the elections for Inner Lok Sabha seat.
