Imphal, April 16:
Manipur University Students Union (MUSU) has asserted that everyone should try to think over why and how the MEELAL activists took up the extreme step of torching the State Central Library instead of condemning them for the act.
In a statement, MUSU H Ashirjit Luwang said MEELAL activists have been even languishing in the jail, while those who pretended to love Meetei Mayek but do nothing for its development were enjoying peaceful sleep at their own home.
The cause of Meetei Mayek being taken up by MEELAL is for all the people of Manipur and it should be the collective responsibility of the people as well as of the Government for any eventuality that might occur during the course of the agitation.
It is but natural that some unwanted incidents would occur during agitation.
So it would be wrong to chastise MEELAL activists for unwanted results and lapped up on the good results, Ashirjit maintained.
However, he hastened to add that this does not meant that MUSU endorsed the act of burning down the Central Library and appealed to all concerned to ensure such incident do not happen again in future.
