Imphal, April 16: Two persons suspected to belong to a particular underground outfit have been slain during face-off with Bishnupur district commandos at Keibul Sangram area of Bishnupur district this evening at around 7.According to police report, the commando team halted some unidentified motor-bike-borne persons at Keibul Sangram road and had to open fire as the unidentified persons defied the commando insistence killing the duo on the spot.

Conveying of retrieving the motor-bike after the encounter, the source further revealed of recovering an under-barrel lethod gun (A-4), one AK-56 rifle with five magazines and an ST set.

Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot dead a former RPF cadre near Thoubal Leishangthem Ningthikhong Canal last night, said sources.

The deceased man has been identified as Salam Mani (31) s/o Modhu of Iramsiphai Mayai Leikai.

According to reports received from the police, the victim was a former RPF cadre leading a normal life after getting bail about fifteen years back.

The victim is reported to have been recently married.

Reports further said that he was abducted by unidentified persons numbering about 4/5 yesterday evening from his residence.
