Police to locate 'rape' victims

Imphal, March 11: To make smooth progress of the investigation into the alleged mass rape of Hmar women, Parbung Police Station is endeavouring to locate the supposedly rape victims, who are said to be currently putting up at neighbouring Mizoram.

Some women organisations of Churachandpur alleged that 21 Hmar women including four minors were raped by cadres of a non-tribal underground organisations at Lungthulien village under Parbung sub-division of Churchandpur district.

Following a complaint lodged on the matter by the village authority of Lungthulien, Parbung Police Station has registered as many as 10 FIR cases on the mater.

The police, however, could not proceed with the investigation as all the 'victims' are currently staying at Mizoram.

To went ahead with the probe smoothly, Parbung police have extended its best efforts to locate victims, a senior police officer told The Sangai Express.

Since the matter is very sensitive and delicate, the police are taking it carefully, he said, adding that necessary arrangements would be made to visit Mizoram to proceed with the investigation.
