Expressing concern over the well-being of Deputy Director (Handloom) K Lamlee Kamei who has been in the custody of Manipur Human Rights and Protection Guild on alleged charge of corruption, many social organizations cutting across community line have sought clemency on humanitarian ground.
K Lamlee Kamei, who worked as Deputy Director (Handloom) in Commerce and Industries Department had been abducted by the cadres of the Guild on alleged charge of misappropriating a huge of development fund released under the centrally sponsored scheme of Din Dayal Hathkharga Prosahan Yojana.
The official has been in the custody of the outfit since July 1.Centre for Women Up-liftment, Tamenglong district hoped that Manipur Human Rights and Protection Guild would respect the rights of every citizen to live and forgive Kamei even if he had committed some mistakes to give a chance to rectify himself.
Chungdailiu Handloom Weavers� Co-operative Society, Tamenglong district while asserting that Kamei is a simple man who works tirelessly for the welfare of poor weavers in society, appealed to his abductors for forgiving him if he had committed any mistake in the course of discharging his official duties.
Maintaining that the root cause of corruption should be find out for uprooting the evil from the society, Ethno Heritage Council (Hericoun) has appealed to the abductors to listen to the appeals being made by the people for safe release of Kamei from their custody.
Regional Academy of Youth and Students, 37-Kongba Nandeibam Leikai while appealing for safe and unconditional release of Kamei on humanitarian ground, also urged the SP Vigilance to investigate in the charges of corruption levelled against the Deputy Director.
Youth and student organizations like Mahabali Students� Welfare, Mahabali Khul, Dimdaijang Youth Club, Thangmeiband Ward No I and Keishamthong Kabui Youths� Uni- on have also earnestly appealed to the Manipur Human Rights and Protection Guild for giving a chance to Kamei to rectify himself.
Golthangmei Kaikhong, Manipur; Tarung Development Authority, Imphal West; Women Welfare Association, Changangei Kabui Village; Gaipuinam Women�s Society, Dewlahland; Mahila Mandal Lang-thabal Khunou; Nongpok Leingak Nupi Lup, Wangkhei Meihoubam; Salanthong Nupi Social Economic Development Association and Young Multipurpose Co-operative Farming Cum Weaving Society, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, in separate press releases have also appealed for clemency and release him without any condition immediately.
Tora Zimik Weavers and Handicraft Co-operative Society Ltd, Tora, Ukhrul district; Chingjaroi CC Handloom cum Handicraft Co-op Society Ltd, Chingjaroi, Ukhrul; and Zingsho Wino Bazar Hand-loom and Handicraft Co-op Society Ltd, Ukhrul have also appealed for the safe release of the abducted officer.
