Imphal, July 09: In violation of the MoU signed by the State Government with the Centre, over 120 teachers have been given appointment on the sly just few days ahead of Ministry downsizing of the SPF Government.

However, when The Sangai Express contacted Tribal Development Minister Ngamthang Haokip, he flatly denied that there had been any appointment of teachers in District Council.

The appointment would be done only after the after has been discussed with the Chief Minister when the latter returned from his Delhi trip, he said.

According to a press source, the teachers have been appointed for the schools under District Councils after allegedly date backing the order by a Minister who had been retained in the Ministry just a few days before pruning of the SPF Ministry.

The District Councils for which the appointment have been made are Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong, Chandel, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.

At the time of appointment of these teachers, the Minister in question did not get the clearance of the Finance and Planning Department, the source alleged.

Besides, the officials of the Education Department did not have any knowledge of the appointment, the source added.

Informing that there had been one instance in which the said Minister put up the matter to the Chief Minister, the source said that the Chief Minister sensing trouble instructed the Chief Secretary to cancel the appointment order.
