Following an understanding reached between the Chief Minister and representatives of the All Manipur Govt Higher Secondary School Part Time Lecturers Association at the CM�s office today, the indefinite hunger strike launched by the part timers have been called off.
The agreement was reached after the State Govt agreed to extend the service tenure of the part timers for one year from April 1, 2004 to March 31, 2005 and increase their remunerations from Rs 4000 to 4500.The members present in the meeting also agreed to hold talks on the basic pay of the part timers next April.
The meeting was attended by the Education Minister, part timer association's president, executive members and convenor.
