MoS for PHE Allauddin Khan has stated that 90% of the water scarcity problems in the Imphal East and southern parts of Imphal will be solved by the end of 2005.In an exclusive chat with "The Sangai Express", MoS Allauddin informed that works for converting the Kangchup, Canchipur and Irilbung water supply plant into major water supply plants had begun in 2002 with funds from the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLGPR) and further said that works at the Kangchup water Supply plant have already been completed in 2003 and has begun functioning.
Works for converting the Canchipirr and Irilbung water plants into major water supply plants are in full swing and would be definitely completed within 2005, said Allauddin adding that water scarcity problem currently faced by the people of Imphal East and southern part of Imphal which include Singjamei Canchipur and Lilong Chajing will be considerably reduced.
Informing that process for changing the old water pipes laid in the State with new ones have already begun, Allauddin said that the programme would be carried out in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas as a part of its first phase.
He also informed that Govt is doing everything within its means to get the DONER of the NEC to be the funding agency.
