The State police will continue and intensify its random checking and frisking inside the complexes of all major Govt offices to prevent UGs from issuing demand letters to the various HoDs and DDOs after sneaking into the complexes, informed a high ranking official of the Manipur Police Department.
Talking to The Sangai Express today, the official informed that the Police Dept has received reports regarding the refusal of some of the Govt officials to sit in their respective offices due to threats from the UGs as well as armed cadres locking up some Govt offices.
To counter these threats, security measures have been stepped up in most of the Govt offices besides intensifying its ongoing drive to flush out UGs from the heart of the city.
He also informed that all the police stations concerned have been instructed to increase their routine checks in the Govt offices located under their respective jurisdictions and further said that security has been heightened at all the vital offices and areas to check infiltration of UGs into Govt offices.
The State police Dept has also begun initiating procedures for blacklisting some individuals and firms for using underground outfits' name while undertaking contract works/supply in the State, said the official adding that all HoDs have also been requested to provide necessary inputs to identify the firms and individuals besides stepping up the intelligence network for nailing the culprits.
The official also disclosed that commando teams from the State Police Dept conducted surprise checks in some of the Govt offices located under Imphal PS, Lamphel PS and Babupura today and rounded up 120 suspects for verification.
However all of them were released after necessary verification at the Imphal PS.
