The outlawed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has disowned two deserters who were arrested by the security forces on January 10 and January 11 while maintaining that the outfit has no relation with the two cadres.
A statement issued by the chief, department of publicity of the RPF, GM Changjou clarified that 'cpl' of PLA, Lourembam Robinson alias Benin (28) son of L Babudhon of Singjamei Yumnam Leikai, who was arrested by a team of Imphal West commandos at Kakwa Naorem Leikai on January 10, was pronounced as 'deserter' by a notification of the outfit's GHQ dated 27-12-09 .
He defected the outfit while a trial was conducted against him for his crime against the RR of the outfit, it stated.
Meanwhile, a 'Lt' of the PLA, Maibam Ratan alias Moramba (42) son of Maibam Deven of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, who was arrested by a team of Imphal East police commandos on January 11 near JN Hospital, was also proclaimed as 'deserter' by a notification of the outfit's war office dated 7-7-09 for leaving his posting place.
The statement clarified that the RPF and its armed wing, the PLA have no relation with the two cadres in any way.
