As in other part of the country, the 113th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhaschandra Bose was observed as Desh Prem Diwas in different parts of the State today.
The main observance was organised by Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur in association with INA Advisory Committee, Moirang at the memorial hall of INA complex at Moirang.
MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency Y Surchandra and Commissioner of Art and Culture P Bhorot Singh were respectively chief guest and president of the function which was also attended by Chairperson of Moirang Municipal Council N Jibanlata Devi as guest of honour.
A gallery of the Manipuri freedom fighters was also inaugurated to mark the occasion.
A book titled, A Tribute to the INA Freedom Fighters of Manipur, was released by MLA Y Surchandra in the function.
A documentary film, Our Beloved Netaji, directed by Haobam Pabankumar and produced by Manipur Film Development Corporation, was screened in connection with the observance.
Earlier, the gathering of the function paid floral tributes to Subhash Chandra Bose.
Speakers of the function remembered the life and works of the INA supremo while delivering their speeches.
It may be recalled that it was on April 14, 1944, the INA/Azad Hind Fauj flag was unfurled for the first time at Moirang by Commander of Bahadur Group Col Saukat Hayat Malik.
On the other hand, All India Forward Bloc and other Left parties joined hands in observing the 113th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhaschandra Bose at Manipur Press Club here.
Offering floral tributes to the departed leader and remembering his activities for securing the independence of the country from the hands of British imperialist power were the main highlight of the observance.
Chairman of Forward Bloc, Manipur State Committee K Bimolchandra, State secretary Kh Gyaneshwar, State secretary of CPI (M) Sarat Salam, State secretary of RSP N Ratan, assistant secretary of CPI Manipur State Committee L Sotinkumar and Secretariat member of CPI (M) Ksh Shanta were present at the function as presidium members.
