The first State Level District Camporee of Bharat Scouts and Guides kicked off today with PS Chhonkar, Commandant of 11 Assam Rifle as chief guest in the presence of N Jacob ZEO Tamenglong District Chief Commission of Bharat Scout and Guide here today at Don Bosco High School Complex Tamenglong.
Very few teams turned up for the Camporee which was organized by Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides and Tamenglong District Association.
In his speech as Chief Guest, Chhonkar, Commandant of 11 Assam Rifles said that Bharat Scout and Guide is the only organization that is recognized by the state government.
He also expressed deep regret over the poor participation however, he had words of encouragement for all the scouts and guides who are attending the 1st State Level District Camporee.
Bharat Scouts and Guides take up various activities which help in nation building, and ensure a healthy body and mind.
Scout movement also helps in developing one's qualities and understands one's duties to others.
All these are appreciated by all, he said.
He also described the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement as pure and non political organization that extend help to the society and nation in time of need.
Out of the five schools taking part, only one school is from Imphal Valley and the rest are from Tamenglong district.
.NJacob, ZEO Tamenglong and District Chief Commission of Bharat Scout and Guide also expressed regrets over the poor participation.
He also said that Bharat Scouts and Guides in collaboration with the Education
Department, Government of Manipur has notched up various achievements to their credit.
However, many schools in Manipur are yet to join the Bharat Scouts and Guides, he observed.
He also recalled the formation of Bharat Scouts and Guides in Tamenglong district.
The Bharat Scouts and Guides, he said, was formed in 1983 with Joychandra as Scout Master in Tamenglong district.
However, due to lack of leadership the movement remained defunct till 2005, he said.
The chief guest donated a sum of Rs 5000 to the organizing committee.
He also said that the 11 Assam Rifles posted here at Tamenglong will provide water to the camporee.
As many as 50 Bharat Scout and Guide from five schools are participating in the State Level District Camporee.
Talking to media person, District Secretary said that the organizing committee has arranged for more than 300 Bharat Scouts and Guides.
It is unfortunate that some schools from Ukhrul had to turn back as vehicle had a breakdown on their way here.
While Chandel teams were stopped by police station as some Guides were found to be from Myanmar, he said.
Traditional dance completion, folk music completion, quiz, march pas, friendship games are some of the main activities of the 1st State Level District Camporee.
