Imphal, January 22:
Taking strong exception of the stoic silence maintained by the State Government over the people's demand to withdraw 24 AR from Moreh, many civil organisations have raised doubts over who is ruling the State, the security forces or the State Government, and cautioned that the Moreh movement may spread to Imphal if the wish of the people is not fulfilled.
This was disclosed by IPSA and FRIENDS during a news briefing today at the office of FRIENDS at Keishampat.
President of FRIENDS, Sapamcha Jadumani observed that if the security personnel involved in the murder of Th Manorama were punished accordingly, such torture and harassment of innocent civilians by security forces might not have repeated.
Referring to the alleged sodomy by AR personnel on N Chaoba, he maintained that the incumbent MLAs and Ministers should be held accountable for all such violation of human right violations by security forces.
Further Jadumani informed that FRIENDS would boycott the Republic Day as the Manipuri people are deliberately denied the most fundamental right to live even though it is within the purview of democratic Indian Constitution.
Joining the briefing, vice-president of IPSA Yumnamcha Dilip asked what would be the reaction if the incidents of Chaoba, Manorama etc were happen to MLAs/Ministers or their families.
He remarked that the true mindset of the SPF government was revealed by the incident of shooting down surrendered Jiten by state forces in front of family members even as Chief Minister O Ibobi talk of peace and negotiation.
He further alleged that Government's inaction aggravates people's movement.
