Imphal, January 22:
While appealing for relaxation of the directives issued by KYKL which fixed salaries of private school teachers at Rs 3000 per month and Rs 1500 for newly inducted teachers per month, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association noted that it would initiate welfare schemes for teachers, fix school fees at an equitable rate and look into the matter of student transfer.
At the first convention of private schools organised by the Association at Manipur Press Club today, founder of Dawn Public School, Kh Doren Khaba said that the Association honours the directive of the KYKL but as of now it would be difficult to implement it fully.
Elucidating on the point, Khaba remarked that there is gulf of difference in the motive and structures of private schools as some are set up by ultra rich, some by educated unemployed while some are set up just to imitate others with the objective to earn huge profits.
Moreover, there is a sharp difference regarding tuition fees between the schools of rural and urban areas, he added.
Doren appealed for an opportunity to discuss and look into all these ground realities with school founders, principals, student bodies and other concerned groups.
He further implored to institute an academic commission and rules and regulations for private schools.
